About Growing for Good

Growing for Good's mission is to design, construct and tend beautiful organic vegetable gardens for people at their own sites to provide the freshest, healthy harvest of the food they want to eat. Growing for Good is dedicated to encouraging the consumption of local organic produce by everyone.

We are growing for good in three ways:

Eating food from your own garden is good for you! Fresh picked produce is the highest in nutrition and organically grown food is free of yucky pesticides, herbicides, preservatives and additives. The nutritional value of vegetables drastically decreases each day after it has been harvested. What could be better than harvesting from your own backyard and preparing dinner?

Consuming locally grown food is good for the environment. Huge amounts of fossil fuels are burned in the production, packaging and transportation of vegetables from factory farms (even organic ones!) to your grocery store, and then to your home. Nonorganic farming practices destroy the natural goodness of the soils and apply petroleum-based fertilizers and chemical pesticides and herbicides to the land, which in turn are released into the air and water supply, harming plant, animal and human life. Growing for Good uses low impact, sustainable gardening practices and helps decrease the square footage of non-native grass lawns!

Finally, we are dedicated to helping others. Growing for Good invites all of our clients to donate a small portion of your garden to growing food to be donated to a local charity of your choice, your local food pantry, or Gaining Ground in Concord, MA. What's good for us is good for everyone.
